What to Expect from a Full Body Massage
So this is your first time to get a full body massage? Congratulations on taking a first step towards improving your physical, emotional, and spiritual health! In the following information, I will try to let you know what will happen in your first session.
A member of our trained staff will greet you. After filling out the state-required forms with your information, you will be taken to a clean, warm, and friendly massage room. You may be a little nervous at first, but after the therapist asks a few questions to get to know you and what your needs are, this will begin to dissipate. Some people come in for very specific, long-term, problems, and others come in strictly for relaxation. The staff at Massage Masters is capable of handling both types of massage and is glad to do so.
After the interview, the therapist will give you privacy to undress to your level of comfort. This varies from person to person, but remember a clean sheet will always cover you. You will get on the table, and the therapist re-enters the room and makes any adjustments necessary to make you more comfortable.
It is very important to remember you are the boss. If you are not getting what you want, tell the therapist, so they can adapt to what makes you at ease. Our therapists understand the best expert on your body is you. They genuinely want you to be happy with your massage, so they readily accept input.
The massage starts using oils or creams for lubrication and the therapists strong, warm, caring hands begin to soothe the aches, pains, and stresses out of your body. Somehow, they know exactly where to go and what is needed. It is acceptable to fade off to never-never land and totally relax, or you may want to stay awake to not miss a moment of this wonderful experience. Talking is acceptable if you want, or you may ask the therapist to stay totally quiet, while you go away. When the session is over, the therapist will quietly leave and allow you to dress and come back to the real world.
After you have had the issues of your body addressed, and you have reluctantly gotten up and dressed, your therapist will discuss things to do after the massage. You can find many of these instructions here. Please enjoy your session and we encourage you to leave feedback here!
Remember, your muscles have memory and what you do most with them is what they remember. If there is chronic stress and tension, that is what they remember. Massage is an excellent tool to re-educate your muscles to promote a relaxation response.
